"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'move from here to there', and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20.
This was my second year hosting a vision board party. What exactly is a vision board? A vision board is a visual expression of one's intents, plans, and purposes that she has set out to meet for the year. It's totally personal -- as only the visionary is able to manifest what's on her board. Vision board parties may not be new to you, but at my parties, we "touch & agree" to initiate our visions. At the conclusion of my events, closing in prayer is the icing on the cake. "A Brunch of Faith" is inspired by the aforementioned scripture. With "faith the size of a mustard seed", you can conquer whatever it is you set out to do.
Even in the midst of planning this event geared to encourage women, and motivate them to visualize their goals, I had faced a number of adversities. I was getting close to giving up, because I had reached my breaking point. Things were picking up at work where I had assumed command of my company, I was (and sill am) adjusting to being a new Mommy, and struggling with ticket sales didn't make it better because that meant I had to front the expenses. My Husband was constantly praying for me: that I remember why I'm doing this, that I'd be blessed with uncommon favor, and find strength through God during the times I wanted to quit! If I could just touch one person's heart, I've done my part.
I had a vision board for my vision board party! It hung on my bathroom mirror so that in the morning and at night, it was the first and last thing I saw. Do not undermine the power of writing things down, and the consistency in praying for what you want. God hears you and knows the desires of your heart! The event turned out beautifully and I'm appreciative of every single woman who came and sponsored seats for others to attend.
Thank you to Brie Elise, my guest speaker, who drove 10 hours from Memphis to TX to sow her seed into these women, even with her "Glam, Grace & Mercy Conference" around the corner! Thank you to my Soror at Fashionably You Boutique for the beautiful stripped body con dress, and also for helping set up/tear down. I appreciate you! Thank you to my coworkers, Ms. Henry & Ms. Barnett for coming before the sun was up to help decorate, I love you two! Thank you to my Mom-in-Love for coming days in advance to lend a hand and watch GiGi while Gianni and I were in the execution phase! Last, but definitely not least, thank you to my loving and supportive Husband! I have to praise my Husband for standing by me through it ALL! Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me and picking me up when I'm at my lowest. Thank you for capturing the moment through video and photo, ripping and running all around Central TX (with little G in tote) to aid in the success of this event! I know that I'll always have a friend in you! You've been holding me down from day 1! I love you!
I have to give a special THANK YOU to the businesses and organizations who sponsored me. Thank you for being a part of something bigger than myself! Everything came out beautifully because you played a role, and I'm so thankful for you!

Welcome back, welcome back! It's been a minute. I'm still on a huge high from the success and supportive turn-out of my very first Vision Board Party! If you're not familiar with what exactly a vision board is, just ponder on a few of your short and long term goals. Now think of what you need to do in order to make them happen. All those ideas that just appeared in your head, imagine that consolidated on a board as a constant reminder to get after those things.
What You Need to Get Started:
Although December 31st and January 1st are only one day apart, it's the NEW year reality that subconsciously gets your mind churning on all the changes you've been wanting to make. The importance of the vision board is to gather those thoughts and put them in one place as a visual reminder to get after your goals daily.
Vision board parties are common. It's a way to bring together like-minded individuals who are all vying to tackle and accomplish their goals. The difference between many previous parties and mine is just one powerful thing: PRAYER! Yes, we prayed over our vision boards at the end of the night, asking God to let His will be done and manifest these visions into reality for the year of 2016!
It's never too late to start on your vision board. They can be edited as often as you'd like. Remember to pray over your goals everyday and put forth the effort to bring them into fruition. With prayer, faith, and action behind that faith, get ready to start checking goals off your vision board! Enjoy the photos from #KJVisionBoardParty
Stop Talking About It. Whatever your "it" is. All you're doing is speaking these things over and over, allowing them to stay in existence into your life. Be quiet! Proverbs 18:21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Cast Your Cares on God. 1 Peter 5:7 literally tells you so! You can always have a conversation with God, never worrying about if someone is truly listening to you, or if they really even care what you're talking about?
Pray & Trust. Once you have that discussion with God, trust that He will deliver you from whatever it is that's got you down and out. Philippians 4:6 tells you, "Don't worry about anything, and pray about everything!"
Did you know that running could get you high? Well, exercise in general: more so running. Running gives you the best natural high your body can receive. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. If you are new to this “running” thing, let me suggest a few pointers that could change your whole experience.
1. Get your feet fit to the right shoes. This is important when deciding what type of running you will be doing. There are different types of shoes that range from long distance to sprinting. The wrong shoe may potentially damage the arch of your foot and cause further injuries. Be prepared to drop about $80-$100 on a good pair of running shoes.
2. Stretch before & after. You want to loosen up muscles, improve range of motion, and increase your circulation before you take off. Once you’re done, while your muscles are warm and full of oxygen, stretch those areas that still may be tight: hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.
3. Hydrate. Don’t just drink a bottle of water and go run. Give yourself at least 24 to 48 hours to fully hydrate your body. Attempt to drink a half-gallon prior to your run day and see how great you feel during and afterwards.
4. Set Realistic Goals. You know what you can accomplish and what is too far fetched. If you can only run a mile without stopping, start at a mile. If you can do more or less, do what you feel you can without killing yourself (or your pride). Which leads me to my final tip.
5. Track progress. Don’t get complacent! Once you’ve reached that mile, add another. You can avoid complacency by tracking your progress. There are plenty of running apps that allow you to input run dates, distance, pace, etc. Take advantage of it!
Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. You have to start somewhere to notice any improvement. Stay focused, stay motivated, and get out there!
Welcome! And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose. [Romans 8:28] Join me as I share a compilation of all things beautiful in my life & how I live a healthy lifestyle through happiness from within!
